Dr. Benton Baker, III is a Fellow of Board Certified
Obstetrician and Gynecologist with over thirty years of experience
in health care including weight and wellness. He is a graduate
of Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas and completed his
residency at Gorgas U.S. Army Hospital.
He is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the
American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as a member
of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians. He also
was a Group Surgeon with the U.S. Army 12th Special Forces Group
and the U.S. Army Special Operations Command.
During his career, he has served as a Professor of Obstetrics
and Gynecology at The University of Texas Medical School-Houston,
The University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston and the University
of Massachusetts and an adjunct Professor at the Uniformed Services
University of the Health Sciences. Additionally, he has
been the Residency Director of two U.S. Obstetrics and Gynecology
residencies and one Family Practice residency as well as the Director
of Graduate Medical Education at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston.
He has served as an Examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics
and Gynecology and has authored or coauthored over thirty articles
and textbooks published in the peer reviewed medical literature.
He has devoted his career to the health and well-being of his
patients. His extensive medical experience and teaching
background allow him to collaborate with his patients and their
other physicians to develop effective and safe individualized
weight reduction and maintenance program encompassing nutrition,
exercise and the appropriate use of approved weight loss medications.
