The M.D.'s Weight and Wellness Center, P.A. is a medical practice devoted exclusively to assisting our patients achieve and maintain their maximum possible state of health through attention to and, if needed, modification of diet, physical activity, and hormonal status. In the United States we are experiencing an epidemic of obesity that is responsible for frequently causing, among those so afflicted, a variety of serious health problems that adversely affect the quality of life or result in premature death.

Indeed, recent statistics demonstrate that 100,000-300,000 deaths each year are caused by obesity and the diseases which may develop from it. Such conditions include breast, colon, endometrium (uterine lining) and gallbladder cancer, hypertension, heart disease, Type II diabetes, osteoarthritis and depression among others. While we can make no guarantees, appropriate weight loss has been demonstrated to reduce the likelihood of developing one or more of these problems and improve several of them if already present.

When medically indicated, our weight reduction programs include the use of U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved weight loss medications, in conjunction with sensible dietary control and appropriate physical activity. When necessary, hormonal regulation and dietary supplementation will be addressed and treated. For those committed to achieving and maintaining an appropriate body weight, these programs can be very effective in overcoming the frequently frustrating challenges of achieving and maintaining an appropriate weight.
